![]() ![]() Structured like a Metroidvania, you travel across the large Niwen forest, acquiring new powers and abilities along the way that open up new paths or help you find secrets. Gameplay wise Ori and the Will of the Wisps at first seems to control very similarly to its previous title. Accompanied by an absolutely haunting and beautiful orchestral soundtrack, this is a game I found myself playing with others watching, just because everything clicks together so well. Be that the lush greens found in the forest, the warm light of the golden hour in the Glades or the death and decay in Shriek’s lair, no place in Niwen feels quite the same. I was always eager to discover new pathways or dungeons, just to see how they would visually stand out from earlier in the game. Whether it’s locations like the murky swamp or the old waterwheel, visual clues are almost instinctive in how they remind you to return at later points with new abilities or how to best traverse these dangerous places. There are visual details in background and foreground that help guide and orientate you throughout Niwen. Many improvements to the visual style have been added such as a larger variety of enemies, collectible objects and a more natural way of discovering hidden caves and optional paths. The world has this painterly art-style that suits almost every environment you visit along the way. Much like The Blind Forest, Will of the Wisps is absolutely gorgeous. The somewhat sarcastic bird Tokk and the combat-expert Opher were great characters to run into during my journey. Where the original game had a couple of supporting characters, Will of the Wisps expands the world of Ori enormously with new creatures, races and even some named NPC’s, who I found to be quite charming. With the help of all sorts of fantastical creatures Ori has to make his way throughout the Niwen woods and restore this world to its former glory by rescuing several light spirits and by helping Ku along the way. While going on an adventure Ori gets separated from his friend Ku in a storm and has to find a way to save him. You play as Ori, a guardian spirit who controls the light of spirit trees. While both games are light on narrative, I’m going to be careful with my phrasing here to avoid giving away something to players who haven’t experienced the original yet. Will of the Wisps is a direct continuation of Ori and the Blind Forest. It’s not only a sight to behold, but a pure joy to play all the way through. The result is that Ori and the Will of the Wisps is possibly one of the best games in its genre and has made me fall in love with metroidvanias all over again. ![]() What’s striking about Ori and the Will of the Wisps is that it’s clear that Moon Studios have also taken the time to refine and see what makes the metroidvania genre work so well. I was so glad once I finally did, because Ori and the Blind Forest sparked my renewed interest into the metroidvania revival and led me on to playing games like Guacamelee, Iconoclasts, and of course Hollow Knight. The game and its art-style had always piqued my interest, but for some reason I simply hadn’t found the time for it. It wasn’t until about a year ago that I first played Ori and the Blind Forest. ![]() ![]() Having a TV connected as the only display device and clicking the OK button in the ATI displays tab found in the Advanced section of the Display Properties results in a flash of the TV image being noticedĬonnecting and enabling an HDTV and entering the properties page for the HDTV no longer results in the D3/D4 options being available in the D-Connector Control Panel Moving the TV to desktop2 and selecting swap device or double up no longer results in the CRT being in panning mode and display corruption being seen on the TV Setting a customized resolution for 720p now works properly when maintaining the aspect ratio Setting the display device to 1080i no longer results in the text on the custom format being illegible ![]() Setting the desktop display to 800圆00 or 1600x1200 16/32bpp no longer results in the incorrect display resolution information being provided when checking the video control panel in the Catalyst™ Control Center Star Wars Knights of the old republic: Loading the Dantooine level of the game under Windows XP no longer results in slow game performance Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: Setting the graphic option in the Catalyst™ Control Center to Optimal Quality, followed by launching the game and setting the resolution option to 1600x1200, no longer results in a performance drop being noticed Imperial Glory Demo: Playing the game under Windows XP with an ATI Radeon™ X800 installed no longer results in the game failing to respond These include:ģDMark05: Running the application under Windows XP for extended periods of time no longer results in the operating system failing to respond when using an ATI Radeon™ X700 PROĪshli Viewer sample Wood: Display corruption is no longer noticed when Anisotropic Filtering set to 4x or aboveĪshli Viewer v1.6.0: Running the application under Windows 2000 and launching a sample item found in the Programs & Shaders no longer results in corruption being displayed in the sample itemĬity of Heros: Playing the game under Windows XP with an ATI Radeon™ Xpress 200 series installed no longer results in the characters in the game appearing corruptedįreedom force VS The 3rd Reich: Playing the game under Windows XP with an ATI Radeon™ 8500 installed no longer results in the super hero character attributes appearing blank ![]() The following section provides a summary of the issues that have been resolved in the latest version of Catalyst™. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Frontline will hold its first closed test on PC starting Octoin Europe. It seems like both Heartland and Frontline seem to be testing the waters for a larger PvP shooter down the road that combines elements from all of Ubisoft's signature franchises, the first glimpses of which already leaked earlier this year. Just recently, Ubisoft revealed The Division: Heartland, a free-to-play offshoot of The Division franchise, along with Tom Clancy's XDefiant, both of which have also been conducting private play tests. ![]() ![]() It shouldn't be a surprise to see Ghost Recon get a free-to-play spinoff, which aligns perfectly with Ubisoft's recent statements about shifting to a hybrid approach to games involving 'AAA' and free-to-play models. "We will be working hard to adjust the game accordingly throughout the several live phases planned before launch, as we want to deliver the most polished and entertaining experience possible for players.” “We can’t wait to see players’ reactions during the first test of Ghost Recon Frontline," said Bogdan Bridinel, Creative Director at Ubisoft Bucharest in a prepared statement. After collecting intel, players will need to head to the drop zone for an extraction, while evading or defeating other squads who will be alerted of their presence. Given that it's a Ubisoft game, we don't expect the map to be covered by most players any time soon, for better or worse. That's already a differentiating factor from other major battle royale games, which gives a renewed focus on exploration. In Expedition, players (in squads of three) will drop on the open world map of Drakemoor island, working together to complete objectives across the map with no converging circle. Ubisoft said that "additional modes will also be available at launch." The game's battle royale mode is called 'Expedition', although no information about any other game modes were announced during the reveal. Players will be able to change their class during battle, making the game what Ubisoft calls "unique and highly tactical." Time will tell whether that will be the case or if it will be pure chaos, although in a battle royale sandbox either can be fun. Frontline offers players three unique classes to choose from, as each team is made up of three players. Of course, being a Ghost Recon game, classes play a big role. ![]() ![]() ![]() This security solution delivers enterprise-level web protection and parental web filtering for a safe and secure web-browsing experience.ĭownload a free trial of Sophos Home and get comprehensive security for your Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11 PC. ![]() ![]() At the regional level, the shield can be shown to have been, to a certain degree, interchangeable with the sword in the burial rite, and the extent of this interchangeability is correlated with regional wealth. The local patterns of shield deposition in the graves are varied, and differ from cemetery to cemetery. But the typology and technology of the shield do not only show changes over time, they also demonstrate geographical differentiation and hierarchies. The adoption of larger and more unwieldy boards, coupled with the change-over to taller bosses from the late sixth century, but particularly in the seventh century, may reflect the emergence of group combat because it coincides with an increasing popularity of the seax, the ideal weapon for the mêlée. Changes also affected the wooden board: it became larger, thicker and, therefore, heavier. By contrast, it is not clear what the grip typology reflects, but it is noteworthy that long iron grips, and flanged grips (short or long) in general, were just an episode which was limited mainly to the sixth century. The changes in boss types may reflect changes in fighting practices, but they certainly reflect an advance in iron-working skills which is particularly obvious in the sixth-century transition from heavy to light bosses. In the typological series of Early Saxon bosses, stylistic change, functional requirements and technical improvements are interlinked. The types of Early Saxon iron bosses and grips were also rooted in Roman Iron Age types, and the main constructions of wooden handles (particularly ones using a lap-joint) were already used on third/fourth-century shields in Jutland. ![]() The Early Saxon shield has the same basic form as the shields in Danish and North German bog deposits: a flat circular board of small to medium size, made up of several planks set side by side, and fitted with an iron boss and grip. The origins of the Anglo-Saxon shield are to be found in the Roman Iron Age on the Continent. ![]() ![]() ![]() I know it’s not a fix for nvALT’s tagging system, but I hope it’s a helpful stopgap.
